Learning and knowing - means existing

Association of Election Officials in Bosnia and Herzegovina (AEOBiH), in the period January - October 2008 implemented a project called "Learning and know - does exist" in cooperation with 20 secondary schools across the country thanks to funds from the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) USA.

The purpose of the project was that young people who turn 18 and gain the right to vote to be aware of them depend on the dynamics and the kind of changes that take place in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The project involved four students (two students and two girls) third grade from ten secondary schools in ten municipalities from RS (Pale, Foca, Srebrenica, Milici, Prijedor, Prnjavor, East Sarajevo, Nevesinje, Bileca, Bijeljina) and ten municipalities from FBiH (Gorazde, Ilijas, Konjic, Žepče, Kakanj, Živinice, Srebrenik, Mostar, Stolac, Travnik). For a total of 80 students and 20 professors of democracy or educator schools were organized 4-day lectures in two cycles on the following topics: The political system of Bosnia and Herzegovina, BiH election, human rights and freedoms, democratization of relationships in school / Strengthening the capacity of student councils / councils in school , the European Union, medium-term strategy - the fight against poverty and the Millennium goals, Gender equality, the importance of the Law on Free access to information. In addition the students are organized visits to all levels of government (one of the municipalities in Sarajevo, Sarajevo Canton, Federation Parliament and BiH Parliament), with the aim of better understanding levels of government and their functioning. Staying in Sarajevo to cover the tourist sightseeing.
