The responsible authorities in BiH

Association of Election Officials in Bosnia and Herzegovina (AEOBiH) has implemented the project "Accountable authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina" in the period from November 1, 2006 to December 31, 2007. The main objective of this project was to promote the accountability of elected officials, holders executive, advisors and their responsibility to serve the public over their own private interests. The project also contributed to raising the general awareness of citizens and media representatives to better exercise their rights and obligations.

Achieving this goal is accomplished through:

Education first elected officials after the general elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina in October 2006 on the most important provisions of the law on conflict of interest in order to raise awareness of the importance of respecting fundamental ethical principles in the conduct of public authority;

  1. Promote basic principles and implications of the Law on Conflict of Interest and the Law on free access to information by conducting educational programs for the relevant media and NGOs; First improving the level of communication between the media and elected officials.

During the one-year implementation of the project, AEOBiH has held 26 training sessions, round tables and meetings for 555 officials elected at the General Elections October 01, 2006, representatives of NGOs and the media.

This project is implemented thanks to the funds of the British Embassy.
