Election Law and Law on Conflict of Interest - experience and practice in the region

Association of Election Officials in Bosnia and Herzegovina (UISBiH), in partnership with the Centre for Free Elections and Democracy from Serbia, GONG from the Croatian, has implemented a project called "Election Law and Law on Conflict of Interest - experience and practice in the region" in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia in the period November 2007 - October 2008.

This project was aimed at strengthening regional cooperation and exchange of experiences between Serbian, Croatian and Bosnia and Herzegovina, addressing the electoral laws and conflict of interest issues in BiH, Serbia and Croatia. During the project, they organized three regional meeting, which was attended by representatives of state institutions dealing with election laws and issues of conflict of interest, as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations of the participating countries.

Based on lessons learned, exchange of experiences, these meetings have provided relevant information to the NGO and government sectors, what needs to be improved in their countries. Based on the results of meetings, the goal of this project was to initiate positive change in the region. In this way, the established and ongoing cooperation between state institutions and institutions in the region, and networks of non-governmental organizations that are actively working in this field. The final document, which included conclusions and recommendations of the three meetings is to be created by three NGOs, (CeSID, GONG and UISBiH), and submitted to the relevant institutions in all three states (parliaments, electoral commissions, committees for conflict of interest, etc.).
